Transformative change requires insight from every part of the enterprise. But the stakeholders who hold these insights are often siloed. Thanks to organizational divisions, simple geography, and long to-do lists, there’s little time to build collective insight. What’s more, business knowledge and conditions are always changing. Connecting the dots to form a coherent strategy can be extremely challenging. As former Hewlett-Packard CEO Lew Platt famously said, “If only we knew all that we know.”
But we have a solution. ThoughtForm’s Vision Catching® methodology brings stakeholders together through an engaging, collaborative process that rapidly captures critical insights and builds consensus. We then blend these in-depth insights with our research and experience to help you shape your strategy. The products, initiatives, and experiences that result are inherently more powerful.
Vision Catching is a different way of working. In customized sessions, we facilitate participants to create and share information with one another through structured exercises and discussions. The process enables powerful collaboration, shining a light on all the insights, information, and opinions hiding in people’s minds. It levels the playing field and creates an open space for suggesting and questioning. As a result, we help teams build consensus, reveal actionable insights, and set the stage for action.
Vision Catching is guided by four principles:
Focus on the user. We ensure the session is relevant to the group and the end users we’re trying to solve for. This user focus keeps everyone on track to achieve key goals.
Challenge assumptions. While much preparation and research goes into a Vision Catching workshop, no one person has all the answers. We encourage everyone to challenge their assumptions and learn from the group.
Make it real. Abstract strategies are tough to grasp (and even tougher to act on). By making workshops visual—using sketches, illustrative posters, and sticky notes—we make new ideas concrete.
Encourage collaboration. Vision Catching is designed around teamwork. By responding to and building on others’ comments, participants create the opportunity for good ideas to become great. And for keen insights to become transformative.
Do you have an opportunity for Vision Catching? If your answer to any of the following questions is “yes,” it’s time to build collective insight.
- Has an effort been in progress, but results are lagging?
- Do team members struggle to make this effort a priority?
- Are ideas getting lost in translation?
- Does your team disagree about goals, strategy, and purpose?
- Is the team struggling with leadership support?
- Do you have a pressing deadline?
- Is the team searching for a way to capture external input?
