ThoughtForm is proud to announce that Kellyn Wilhide has joined our team as a project manager. Kellyn recently took some time out of her busy schedule to tell us a bit about her career journey through energy, health care, and life sciences—as well as her love of well-designed shoes.
Tell us a bit about your background
I started in a small financial planning practice as a marketing coordinator, then moved on to energy as part of a sales team and started my work on RFPs. I spent five years at Highmark as part of the Sales Messaging team, and after that continued messaging work at ThermoFisher. All through my seven years in energy, healthcare, and life sciences, I realized I was doing the work of a project manager. This realization eventually led me to a project manager role, first at Gateway Health and now at ThoughtForm.
What’s an example of design you admire today?
Anna Bond, the co-founder of Rifle Paper Co. A good designer friend of mine got me hooked on Rifle Paper Co. and their vibrant floral designs. A company that started as a stationary company has expanded to home décor and my personal favorite—shoes! I currently own 3 pairs of Rifle Paper inspired shoes that have been created through their collaboration with Keds.
What advice do you have for someone just getting started down a similar career path to your own?
Being a project manager isn’t always easy. You will work with a lot of different people, each with their own different personalities and work styles. One of the best things you can do is collaborate with your team and allow them to assist in creating schedules. Including the team in planning is key, that way everyone understands the timeline and their role from the beginning.
Who’s currently on your work playlist?
The Acoustic Covers playlist on Spotify. It’s a mix of fun covers by various artists.
